Captain Riley Griffith

Captain Riley Griffith, a sixth generation captain and professional fisherman, has been fishing all of his life. At a very young age, his father introduced to him Redfish and Seatrout fishing in the Indian River's most northern creeks, just south of Oak Hill, Florida.
His afternoons after middle school were spent chasing largemouth bass in community ponds around the Port St. Lucie area with friends. "We were 12 years old running around with fishing rods climbing over chain link fences to fish the local ponds. We called it 'pond hopping.' My buddies and I would ride our bicycles 5+ miles every day hopping from pond to pond, chasing trophy-sized Largemouth Bass." The only seaworthy vessel he owned was a 10 foot aluminum jon boat, powered by a 3HP motor, that his father used during his childhood. "If we weren't bass fishing, we'd be catching mangrove snapper and snook along bridges on the jonny."  Riley and friends used this vessel to start learning the waters around Fort Pierce.

Shortly after the start of his high school career, Riley and his father refurbished an old Hoog hull, named "8Up." This became Captain Riley's first real flats skiff.  Almost every single day Riley would launch his boat after class and fish throughout the night, targeting big Snook and Tarpon. Weekends allowed for early morning trips targeting anything from Redfish on the flats to Kingfish off the beaches. Years of fishing from the 8Up turned Captain Riley into an adept angler, with immense knowledge on a plethora of different fisheries. "All these years of fishing made me realize that the most rewarding and gratifying moments were when my fellow anglers caught the fish. It never mattered to me if I was able to fish, I just wanted whoever was with me to catch their fish. My favorite feeling in the world is landing somebody's fish and seeing the ear-to-ear grin of excitement on their face."   Captain Riley has since turned his passion for guiding into his profession, with a focus on giving clients a superlative and enjoyable experience on the water.
